About

"Source and Summit" is a revamped blog dedicated helping people find fulfilling summit-focused hikes in Southern California and beyond. While it is primarily a peakbagging database, many of the older entries are easier, moderate , or family-friendly hikes. My focus is to help peakbaggers thrive, foster environmental education of native species, and understand the lessons of personal virtue that can be found in the wilderness.

I founded this blog as a high school project back in 2011, originally titled, "Hiking in Southern California." Since then, I have helped thousands discover the trails of Southern California.

I am currently a grad student at CSU San Marcos studying environmental history, and high school teacher. Before COVID-19, I was a Park Interpretive Specialist for California State Parks in the Inland Empire District. I am currently based in the Temecula Valley, so most of the new posts are located in the San Bernardino, San Jacinto, and San Diego county ranges.
